
Region House (Župný dom) – (3 Župné) - a protected cultural site. Originally a late Baroque structure completed in 1777. In 1793 it burnt down and was rebuilt as a representative building for the Nitra Region´s administration, later expanded in 1860. It was rebuilt in the style of Art Nouveau by V.Czigler in 1903 – 1908. In 1923 – 1927, Janko Jesenský, an important Slovak writer, served here as head of regional administration. Since 1965, the building has been housing the Nitra Gallery.
